Descartes and the Mind

Descartes (1596-1650) described the relationship between the mind and brain. In this post I will give a short description of his thoughts.
Descartes argued that the body is like a machine (Kolb and Wishaw, 2008, p.6-7), Because of the resemblance of functioning machines. The mind in action was assigned to the pineal gland because this is the only single part in the brain. Furthermore, Descartes separated the mind and the body, which is called dualism. The proposol was that body and mind could interact with each other and behavior is assumed by him by two things. The dualism of Descartes is now famous in relation to the mind-body problem.
